About this course

This course explores topics in modern music production, sound design and arrangement through practical exercises in music creation using the software Ableton Live. Topics will include:

  • The use of software instruments including drum programming and MIDI implementation.
  • The recording and manipulation of audio including creative time-stretching  and sampling techniques.
  • Music arrangement including an introduction to remixing.
  • Basic Mixing and audio processing including the use of EQ, compression, delay and reverb.

This is a beginner level course and requires no previous experience in music production or the use of Ableton Live.

What to expect

Music production

Produce a track, a song or a beat, whatever you want to work on. You'll have full access to sound libraries, samples and other useful material for your own production.

Beginner friendly

You don't need any prior experience with Ableton Live or music production. However, if you already do have experience, come and learn even more!

About Jeremy - Your production coach

Jeremy Friedman is a Barcelona-based music producer percussionist and music educator whose live performances and unique studio productions span the musical genres having collaborated with world-renowned artists and ensembles including James Levine, Emiliana Torrini, Jorge, Sting, the Konzerthaus Orchester Berlin and many more.
Jeremy holds a BM in Percussion Performance from the Ew England Conservatory of Music in Boston in Sound and Music Computing from the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. His music productions have earned him nominations for Jazz Album of the Year by the Fonogram Hunagrian Music Awards and CD of the Week by the German National Radio (NDR). 

Currently, Jeremy is an assistant professor at the Berklee College Music – Valencia Campus as part of the Master of Music Production, Technology, and Innovation profram, as well as assistant lecturer at the Berlin School of Popular Arts, and is regularly invited to give master classes in music production, performance, and sound design at universities, music conservatories, and festivals including the Jazz Institut Berlin. New Jersey City University, the Institute of the Arts Barcelona, the international Istanbul Percussion Festival & Competition, and the Pontífíca University Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia.

To participate in this workshop, an Ableton Live 11 license is required.
